Response

Response is defined in the National Response Framework as immediate actions to save lives, protect property and the environment, and meet basic human needs. The execution of emergency plans and actions to support short-term recovery also are a major part of response. The City of Jacksonville Emergency Preparedness Division responds to all types of emergencies and disasters including, but not limited to: apartment fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, gas leaks, hazardous material spills, building collapse, and flooding. Duty officers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week from the City of Jacksonville Emergency Preparedness Division and may respond to a scene to assist. However, much of the response is conducted from the Duval County Emergency Operations Center
