“Duval County is no stranger to severe weather, and preparedness is key to protecting lives and property,” said Andre Ayoub, Chief, Emergency Preparedness Division. “Severe Weather Awareness Week is a reminder for all residents to take the time now to plan, prepare, and stay informed before the next storm strikes.”
Throughout the week, each day will focus on a different weather hazard and the steps residents can take to stay safe:
- Monday: Lightning Safety
- Tuesday: Marine Hazards & Rip Currents
- Wednesday: Tornadoes & Thunderstorms
- Thursday: Hurricanes & Flooding
- Friday: Temperature Extremes & Wildfire Safety
